Joseph’s Story

Being on the autism spectrum, Joseph found communication with others a challenge. As a result, he avoided interaction at school and had limited after school activity. His recent curiosity in technology was a welcome bit of excitement in his home. His grandmother recognized that channeling this new-found interest could be a source of mental stimulation and growth for Joseph.

She heard of the local Hall-Monroe STEM program from a fellow church member. With additional funding from The TGB Foundation for STEM camps in rural America, this monthly gathering has become a highlight of Joseph’s week. It’s been three years since his first class and his grandmother raves about his improvement in communication skills. He thoroughly enjoys the robotics team and being able to socialize with like-minded peers
