The District

Give back to your D.C. community through volunteer opportunities with The TGB Foundation, an impact-driven nonprofit providing the opportunity for kids to live their best life possible.

The Together Giving Back [TGB] Foundation was created in honor of Optomi, llc Cofounder, Todd G. Black. Todd championed strong values, generosity, warm-hearted corporate culture and he relished any opportunity to make a positive impact in people’s lives.

Having visited the D.C. area several times, Todd found inspiration in the progressive nature of the city. There is no shortage of ways to volunteer in Washington D.C. to help children.

With the launch of The TGB Foundation, we aim to help the community through local volunteering opportunities to enhance the lives of children. This can involve assistance with the packing of our TGBash Bags… bags full of entertaining items for little patients going through treatments in the hospital. We’re looking to give out over 2000 bags before the end of 2021.

In partnering with Children’s Hospitals, we are able to help kids of all ages have a more comfortable hospital experience. Psychology studies have shown that simple games can improve mood, promote relaxation and ward off anxiety (Russoniello et al.). Our TGBag does just that. Through the gift of entertainment and distraction activities, we are able to normalize life and enhance the hospital stay for young patients and their families. These bags include items such as puzzles, fidget spinners, stress balls, coloring books and activity books. Our gifts allow the opportunity for better outcomes by transcending the reality of the moment… all in an effort to allow these little patients to ultimately live their best lives.

In addition to our own TGBash Bags filled with custom activity items from The TGB Foundation, we also coordinate volunteer efforts to pack backpacks for the D.C. area school weekend backpack meal programs. Optomi, the company that Todd Black cofounded, created a program called Opt2give to alleviate the hunger epidemic in the U.S. Through this program, Optomi, LLC donates a weekend worth of meals to a food insecure child with every business deal. The program has fed over 5,000 children with over 35,000 meals to date.

Additionally, we’ve joined the fight against child sex trafficking and the dissemination of child sexual abuse material. As we help fund the technology developed by our partner, the Thorn organization, we’re fighting to stop the spread of child sexual abuse material, report it and aid in the capture of the perpetrators.

The TGB Foundation is dedicated to ensuring every child is able to live the best life possible. Funds raised for our Golf Events and Pickleball Tournaments are earmarked to support the tech that defends & rescues these kids. We’re helping to defend children against the unspeakable. Join us! GIVE.
